Greening Waverley

Save our High Streets

Waverley Borough Council is trying to preserve our High Street by buying shop premises to help meet the needs of local people by supporting independent, sustainable businesses, as well as providing genuinely affordable homes for sale and for rent.

Rethink council work

Waverley is consulting on how to reshape The Burys council offices (currently unsuitable and with massive energy costs), without incurring huge financial problems. One proposal enables us to provide high-quality, efficient services to local people, expand genuinely affordable town centre housing, relocate some car parking spaces and preserve our riverside - all while leaving the Burys Field untouched and transferring its management to Godalming Town Council for more effective local oversight.

Provide youth services

Godalming Town Council has acted to make provision for the young people of our area, and has made huge leaps forward with the youth centre and other projects - at a time when many councils are scrapping services and closing doors to young people. GTC has recently appointed a full-time youth worker, based in Broadwater.
