A MESSAGE FROM NINA

I’m delighted to have been selected as the Green Party’s candidate for Godalming Town Council Farncombe and Catteshall ward in the coming election. I’d be honoured to represent local residents on Godalming Town Council over the next four years if elected. As a local small business owner, environmental scientist, and educator, I’m passionate about being of service to my community.

As well as starting my own business running a café and zero waste shop, I have a background in education – and I strongly believe in creating a better future for our children and young people. I am used to working hard to makes things better for everyone who lives, works and visits this area. As your representative on the Godalming Town Council I would continue with Mayor Shirley Faraday’s work to ensure that local government does as much as it can to help locals, particularly young people and those who are most in need. Shirley will be campaigning with me and sharing her local experience. I would love to be able to support Godalming Town Council’s current work by Green colleagues Bob Crooks, Clare Weightman and Steve Williams to further develop our recently established Youth Service.

As a Green Party councillor I would consider it very important to work closely with councillors from all parties to unite against the threat that the climate and the ecological emergency poses to us and future generations. I’m enthusiastic and hopeful in my approach to tackling this crisis: I believe that we need to improve access to green spaces, as well as preserving and enhancing them. I would love to collaborate with local allotment associations to guide more young people, and those who are struggling, into becoming experienced in growing food and being in contact with the land. Nurturing a closer relationship with nature has innumerable economic, health and wellbeing benefits and this is what I want to stand for on your behalf.

If elected as your councillor on Thursday 4th May, I will continue working hard for my local community and I very much hope to have your support. As a result of new government requirements, you will require ID to vote… Use the QR code or contact me by e-mail (ninaclayton0@gmail.com) for further details.
